About the author

Sanjay Agarwal

Sanjay Agarwal graduated from Delhi University with honours in 1983 and has been practicing as a professional accountant since 1986, working mainly with International and Indian grant-making organisations in India and neighbouring countries. He writes regularly on accounting and regulatory issues affecting the voluntary sector in periodicals such as AccountAble, AuditAble and Compliance Matters.

He has facilitated numerous workshops and webinars for accountants, auditors, and grant-makers on FCRA, NPO taxation, financial management, and financial risk in grant-making. He has also served on various committees and expert groups for institutions such as Asia Pacific Philanthropy Consortium, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and the erstwhile Planning Commission

Sanjay Agarwal’s books on the FCRA have long been our best guides and analyses of this complex Indian legislation and the practice surrounding it. For two decades practitioners, policymakers, activists, academics and perhaps even some regulators, in India and abroad, have relied on Sri Agarwal’s successive volumes on the FCRA to understand how the Act, the Rules under it, and implementation are changing and developing.
